Terms of service
These terms are the agreement between you and the operator of Leafthrough for using the Leafthrough website, the editor and shared books. By signing in, continuing without an account or saving a book, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use Leafthrough.
Who you are dealing with

In these terms, "Leafthrough", "we" and "us" mean this operator. "You" means the person using Leafthrough. An "author" is someone who makes books, with or without an account.
The service
Leafthrough lets you make photobooks with photos and videos, share them as a link, and export them to print at home. Making, editing and previewing a book is free. Some features need an account, and some need the book to be unlocked (see below). Leafthrough is offered as it is and may change: features can be added, changed or removed.
You must be at least 16 years old to use Leafthrough, or have the permission of a parent or guardian.
Your account
You sign in with Google or with a link sent to your email address. Keep access to that Google account or mailbox safe: whoever controls it controls your Leafthrough account. A guest book without an account stays in the browser it was made in and is deleted after 30 days unless you save it to an account.
Your content
The photos, videos and text you put into a book stay yours. You give Leafthrough a non-exclusive, worldwide, free licence to store, copy, process and show your content only as needed to run the service for you: to show the book to you, to show it to anyone you share it with, to make previews and exports, and to keep backups. The licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies already in backups until they are overwritten.
Leafthrough does not use your content for advertising, sell it, or show it to anyone you have not shared it with.
Acceptable use
You are responsible for everything you upload and share. You may only upload content you have the rights to use. In particular:
- You need the consent of the people shown in your photos and videos to put them in a book and share it, or another legal right to do so.
- Images of minors need the consent of their parent or guardian. Never upload images of minors that are sexual, that show nudity, or that expose them to harm or ridicule.
- No content that is illegal, that infringes someone else's copyright, privacy or other rights, or that is sexually explicit, violent, hateful or harassing.
- Do not use Leafthrough to send spam or malware, to store files that are not part of a book, or to get around its limits or its protection against abuse.
Reporting content
If you see a shared book that breaks these rules or your rights, write to [email protected]. Include the share link or the printed code, which images or text you mean, why you are reporting them, and how to reach you. If you report an infringement of your own rights, say which right and that you hold it.
Leafthrough may remove content, turn off a share link, or suspend or close an account when it breaks these terms or the law, or when a report makes that likely. Where the law allows and it is safe to do so, Leafthrough tells the author why. Content that suggests the abuse of a child is reported to the authorities.
Sharing
A shared book can be opened by anyone who has its link or its printed code, without an account. You can protect a book with a password, and you can turn sharing off at any time; the link then stops working at once.
Unlocking a book
- Per book. An unlock belongs to one book. It cannot be moved to another book or another account.
- Free share window. A book that is not unlocked can be shared for 10 days, counted from the first time it is shared. Turning sharing off and on, or making a new link, does not start the window again. After it ends, the link shows that the book is not available until the book is unlocked; unlocking makes the same link work again.
- What an unlock gives. An unlocked book's link keeps working while the book exists, its exports carry no Leafthrough mark, and it can have QR codes on its cover and video pages.
- Price. You choose the amount, at least the minimum shown at checkout. VAT or sales tax is added on top where it applies.
- Who sells it. The unlock is sold by Stripe as merchant of record. Stripe takes the payment, charges the tax and handles receipts, refunds and disputes under its own buyer terms, which you accept at checkout. Questions about a payment go to Stripe through the link in your receipt.
- Refunds. If a payment is refunded, or a dispute about it is decided for the buyer, the book is no longer unlocked. Its free window has usually ended by then, so its link stops working.
- Deleting an unlocked book. If you delete an unlocked book, or the account it belongs to, the unlock is lost and not refunded.
No permanent storage
Leafthrough is not an archive. It aims to keep your books available, but it does not promise that they, or the photos and videos in them, will be stored forever or without interruption. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot replace.
Ending the agreement
You can stop using Leafthrough at any time and have your account deleted as described in the privacy policy. Leafthrough can close an account under the rules above.
Liability
Leafthrough is liable without limit for damage it causes intentionally or through gross negligence, and as required by mandatory law. Any other liability, including for slight negligence, for lost data and for indirect or consequential damage, is excluded as far as the law allows (Swiss Code of Obligations Art. 100). Leafthrough is not liable for content authors upload or share.
You indemnify Leafthrough against claims by others that arise because content you uploaded or shared breaks these terms or someone's rights.
Changes to these terms
Leafthrough may change these terms. The date below shows the latest version. Authors with an account are told about significant changes by email before they apply. Using Leafthrough after that means you accept the new terms; if you don't, you can have your account deleted.
Law and court
These terms are governed by Swiss law, without its rules on conflicts of law and without the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. The courts at the operator's place of business in Switzerland have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, the mandatory protections of the law of the country you live in still apply, and you can also go to the courts there.
